Cookie Policy

An explanation of essential website functions, saved privacy preferences, and choices about optional technologies.

Last updated: 09/24/2026

1. Purpose of this policy

This policy explains cookies and similar technologies relevant to the Pryden Scholar website. It should be read with the Privacy Policy. Some website functions depend on technical information being exchanged with a server, while others keep a limited setting on the visitor's device. These activities are not identical, and the existence of a privacy banner should not be used to imply that every type of tracking is already installed.

The Pryden Scholar website includes a privacy preference panel and a confirmation-only learning enquiry form. The custom sections do not include optional analytics or advertising scripts. Website hosting or other functionality enabled separately may introduce additional technologies. We assess and disclose those technologies according to their actual purpose and address any applicable consent requirement before use.

2. What cookies and similar storage mean

A cookie is a small piece of information stored by a browser for a website. It can be used to support a session, remember a choice, or perform another defined function. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, tracking pixels, and device identifiers. A technology is not exempt from privacy requirements simply because it is called local storage instead of a cookie.

The relevant questions include what information is involved, why it is used, who receives it, how long it remains, and what law applies. A first-party label does not automatically make a technology essential. An identifier used for optional measurement or advertising should be assessed for that purpose, rather than treated as necessary solely because it appears in a website's own code.

3. Essential functions

Essential technologies support functions such as delivering the website, maintaining an appropriate session, protecting a requested service, or remembering a privacy decision. The privacy preference described below is used to remember the visitor's selection and avoid repeatedly asking the same question during its retention period. It is not a marketing profile or a record of an educational enquiry.

Essential functions remain available when optional categories are declined. The exact technologies used by the website host depend on the live configuration. A technology that is useful to the company but unnecessary for the requested website function should not automatically be placed in the essential category. If the site adds a new function, its technical requirements should be assessed before the notice is changed.

4. The saved privacy preference

The privacy panel saves a preference under the name pryden-privacy-v1 in local storage. The setting records the preference version, whether optional analytics and optional advertising are allowed, and the time the choice was saved. It does not include the visitor's name, email address, phone number, message, or selected learning program.

The interface recognizes this preference for up to 180 days. After that period, or when a material preference version changes, it can ask for a new choice. A visitor may clear the setting sooner through browser controls or reopen Cookie settings in the footer. If local storage is unavailable, the current page can still use the choice, but it may be unable to remember that choice on a later visit.

5. Optional analytics

Analytics technologies can be used to understand website visits and interactions. Depending on the tool, they may process a page address, device information, approximate location, or an identifier. Such tools are not included in this website design. Allowing the optional analytics category therefore records a preference; it does not itself install a measurement service or create tracking data.

If analytics is introduced later, its provider, purpose, information, retention, and available choices should be disclosed. Where prior consent is required, the tool must remain inactive until that consent is obtained. A material change to the purpose or recipient may require a fresh choice. A saved preference is not a blanket authorization for every possible future measurement service.

6. Optional advertising

Advertising technologies can measure campaigns, link activity across services, or build an audience. These uses can have different privacy implications from essential website operation. This website design does not add advertising pixels, cross-site advertising identifiers, or remarketing tools. The optional advertising choice records a preference for that category without enabling an absent service.

If an advertising tool is proposed later, its actual operation should be assessed and explained before activation. Where a visitor has a legal right to opt out of a sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or another use, that right must be implemented as applicable. Consent to optional website storage should not be confused with permission to send marketing email or to disclose training participant records for unrelated advertising.

7. Making and changing a choice

The initial panel offers Accept optional, Essential only, and Preferences. Accept optional enables the optional category preferences. Essential only leaves both optional categories off. Preferences allows the visitor to make separate selections and save them. Both optional categories are off before a choice is made. Essential functions remain available because they support the website and the preference mechanism itself.

Cookie settings in the footer reopens the detailed panel so that a choice can be reviewed or changed. A new choice replaces the prior saved preference. If optional tools are added to the live site, they must actually honor these choices; the appearance of a button alone is not proof that an outside tool is correctly blocked. Required notices and consent should match the technologies that are truly enabled.

8. Enquiry fields and other information

The learning enquiry form does not store its answers in a cookie or in local storage. Its confirmation is displayed in the current page. It does not transmit the answers to the company. Closing or reloading the page removes the form's page state, and starting a new enquiry resets the form. The saved cookie preference is separate from those answers.

Direct contact through email, phone, or post may involve information that the company receives and handles under the Privacy Policy. A browser preference does not erase a communication already sent through another channel. Likewise, declining optional analytics does not prevent the website host from processing technical requests needed to deliver the page or maintain appropriate security.

9. Browser controls and privacy signals

A browser may allow you to inspect, delete, or block cookies and other storage. The available controls vary by browser and device. Clearing the saved preference may cause the website to ask again. Blocking storage may affect some functions. You do not need to enable optional advertising or analytics merely to read information about the offered services.

Some browsers send privacy preference signals. These should be handled where applicable law requires them, and they should not be misrepresented as a universal substitute for every consent requirement. This interface does not include optional advertising or analytics tools to which a signal needs to be passed. Any later integration must be reviewed for its own duties, including relevant opt-out mechanisms, before deployment.

10. Updates and enquiries

If website technologies change, we will update this policy to identify the actual use and available choices. A materially new purpose or provider may require a new preference request before activation. The update date at the beginning of the policy identifies the version currently published. An old preference will not be treated as indefinite permission for a materially different use.

Contact Pryden Scholar if you want clarification about a preference or believe an optional technology has activated contrary to your choice. Include the page, approximate time, and a description of what happened, without sending unnecessary private information. A concern about data supplied directly to the company is handled under the Privacy Policy rather than by the local storage setting alone.
